I've used FDM for years and it's still installed but due to the heavy amount of features it had at one stage in comparison to the few it has now I'd say this free app is no longer holding as strong as it should, on the torrenting site it's bare minimum and on the file hoster side it's sub-par to alternatives. Which is sad as this used to be comparable to the higher end download managers and scored bonuses for being free, but with the free alternatives out there it's just so hard to reccommend at this point.

FDM used to be the greatest download manager out there. Used to be. Starting with version 5, it lost a large number of features, added some restrictions, and greatly suffers in the performance department. For example, it cannot acquire two downloads from a web browser in rapid succession. It is still better than every other free download manager out there, but it certainly not the best, certainly not a masterpiece and certainly has not outperformed premium download managers.

A strange thing I found! You cannot create folder name in the New Download window with a space at the end, but you can with a spaceat the beginning. If you do w11 file explorer will list it alphabetically first and the folder name cannot be changed.

Add the ability to clear download location history and it would be perfect. I download to multiple drives, each with multiple folders. If I chose individual folders instead of the root drives, I'd have a list of hundreds to scroll through.

I don't know why, but from time to time my download speed is too slow, like 200kb/s, and if I try to download something else on another app (steam, epic games...) the download speed is 11mb/s. I remember that in the past (I've been using this app for a while) the speed download was over 3mb/s. I've been trying to redownload the app, but is the same thing. How can I solve it? It's really good, but when I download even with max download speed it won't let me use my full normal 5mbs only letting me use 200-550 kbs.
The best download tool, it's a must-have. Downloading tool have ton of features, and they are paid. FDM is prime ex. of you don't need tones of features just build something simple and user-friendly that's it!

I've got a fairly slow connection, so It's hard to watch any videos without the constant buffering, so I download, watch then delete A LOT. I've used several big name downloaders and every time I get irritated with the new one and think... "BUT FREE DOWNLOAD MANAGER WOULD JUST FRIGGIN DO THIS.. WHY WON'T YOU? (refering to the other downloader). Thanks FDM.
Chris Scogin, That comment includes IDM. I just uninstalled it and came right back to FDM. All FDM is missing is a neural network so I can just THINK about downloading something and it loads.
